PORTLAND, Ore. – Environment Oregon Research and Police Center held a news conference at Go Forth Electric Showcase Tuesday to discuss a new study on preparing cities in the U.S. for electric vehicles.

The report is called “Plugging In: Readying America’s Cities for the Arrival of Electric Vehicles.”

The report includes a first-of-its-kind policy analysis of best practices for using electric cars in the U.S. and internationally.

The organization says the report will help make the transition to electric vehicles as smooth as possible.

At the news conference Tuesday, officials talked about the growing need for more charging stations in Portland.

Data shows Portland can expect approximately 41,000 electric cars on the road by 2030 and the city will need to install hundreds or even thousands of charging ports to meet that demand.
